My name is Bonnie Buckeye, and I am a senior at The Ohio State University.  I graduated from Columbus State Community College with an associate’s of art degree, and then transferred to OSU to study art.  My interest in art began at a very young age.  I was homeschooled up until high school and I took a variety of different extracurricular art courses from various facilities. I also participated in a pottery class every summer throughout elementary and middle school.  I have always enjoyed expressing myself through art.  After I learned how prestigious the OSU design program was, and how many art programs OSU had, I decided that it would be the perfect place to cultivate my skills and my passion for art.  I determined to major in art and minor in design. I chose art because I loved it, design because I thought it would be a practical outlet for my artistic abilities. I was not sure exactly what my area of expertise would be, but there were so many programs, I decided to try out everything of interest.

While I enjoyed many of my studio art classes, such as ceramics, glass, photography and sculpture, I found that I was really drawn to the technology and computer-based classes.  I have always enjoyed Photoshop and have spent many long days working with the program to create unique pieces of art.  I also greatly enjoyed my 3-D visual art classes, and when I discovered the program “Cinema 4-D” I was absolutely enthralled. I enjoy working on the computer and using programs to manipulate and produce works of art. I also enjoy working with high-tech machines and innovative concepts, so I felt that Art and Technology was the program for me.

I have had some challenges in my studies of art.  Certain mediums, such as painting, do not come as easily to me as do others.  Although I do well and still enjoy them, I could never see myself making a living drawing or painting.  However, I have found that programs such as cinema 4-D allow me to use my natural creativity to the best of my abilities by giving me tools to create the unique works of art in a precise manner.  I feel that technology is the way of the future, and I feel that those who are at the head of it, will be the ones with a voice in the future world.  I would love to be a part of that voice, and to be able to make an impact on the world of tomorrow, for artists, designers, innovators, and consumers alike.
